   HISTORY

FIRST PRESENCE AT A CONGRESS

One of the first pioneer researches was carried out with the patients from the Institute for Nephrology, Dialysis and Rehabilitation of Kidney Diseases in Struga in 1986.

Another area of applying yoga in the process of therapy and rehabilitation are the specialized yoga courses in the Institute for Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Diseases in Ohrid which have been held since 1992 The yoga techniques combined with modern medical methods contribute to moderate the influence of the risk factors, especially stress and tension, as main causes for the increasing number of heart diseases.
The results and the experiences from these researches were elaborated in two scientific studies: “Yoga as a method of rehabilitation of patients with chronic kidney insufficiency” (yoga teacher P. K. Hassanagas, V. Tomanoski, MD, A. Derebanova, MD, yoga instructor I. Edrovska, yoga instructor V. Taseski and psychologist K. Edrovska) and “Yoga as a method of rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases” (yoga teacher P. K. Hassanagas, M. Kotlar, MD, yoga instructor I. Edrovska, yoga instructor V. Taseski and psychologist K. Edrovska). The studies were presented at the 5th World Congress on Yoga and Holistic Medicine, held in May 1994 in Annecy, France. At this Congress a third scientific study was also presented “Yoga for School Children” (yoga teacher P. K. Hassanagas, psychologist K. Edrovska, psychologist E. Stoimenova and yoga instructor V. Aleksovska).
